Abortion Pill

health and safety checklist

Headshot Portrait_edited.png

Before you take the abortion pill, it is important to confirm:

Viability of the pregnancy (an ultrasound can confirm that a natural miscarriage is not occurring).

The pregnancy is located inside the uterus. An ectopic pregnancy is a life-threatening condition that requires immediate emergency medical attention and cannot be removed with abortion pills.

You are not more than 10 weeks pregnant (confirmed by ultrasound). An online pregnancy calculator is an estimate, not a verification.

Rh factor. If you are RH-negative, you may require a Rhogam shot after an abortion or miscarriage.

If an IUD is in place, it would need to be removed. (STD testing is also recommended if you may have an STD/STI.)

You are not allergic to or at risk for a reaction to the drugs used in the abortion pill regimen.

Your safety and health are our priority. While we do not provide or refer for abortion services, we can provide the necessary medical screenings and health consultations you need to make an informed choice.

No. The abortion pill is taken to end a pregnancy after viability and location have been confirmed. Emergency contraceptives should not be taken if you are already pregnant. Contact us to confirm a viable, intrauterine pregnancy and explore your options.

Can anyone take the abortion pill?

Abortion pills cannot be taken if the pregnancy is ectopic. Other health conditions can also make someone ineligible for the abortion pill. We can provide a free ultrasound and talk through your health history to help you avoid any unnecessary risks.

We provide care to everyone, regardless of age, gender, income, or immigration status. Your information is always private, and we never report anyone’s status. All patients are welcome, including those without legal documentation. All our services are free and confidential. We know that an abortion isn't your plan A, B, or even plan C, but we're here to help you navigate a decision with confidence.

We provide ultrasounds to estimate how far along you are and assess whether the pregnancy appears to be developing in the uterus. An ultrasound alone cannot rule out an ectopic pregnancy, but can give an indication of the location of the pregnancy.
